In 2019 I filmed multiple Manta Ray on a dive trip to Lady Elliot Island QLD. I submitted the 'bellies' (their markings are all unique) to Project Manta from the University of Queensland. The reply from the researcher was that one of my Manta had not been named and the naming rights were mine! He was young, male, and seemed to be enjoying life on the reef. I named him in honour of my departed father.... Bert

Bert's future?
As long as Bert doesn’t get caught in the kilometres of shark netting; fall victim to drum lines or illegal shark finners; end up as by-catch; or a victim of a boat strike I will hopefully capture him again on video!
